India Hosts International Fleet Review 2026 at Visakhapatnam with 85 Ships from 74 Nations Under Theme United Through Oceans

President Droupadi Murmu reviewed the International Fleet Review 2026 off the coast of Visakhapatnam on February 18, 2026, in her capacity as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. She sailed aboard INS Sumedha - an indigenously built offshore patrol vessel that served as the Presidential Yacht - past an assembled fleet of 71 ships. Total participation across the IFR and the concurrent MILAN 2026 exercise reached 85 ships from 74 nations, including 19 foreign warships from 65 navies.

The IFR was held under the theme "United Through Oceans: Strengthening Bridges of Friendship" and was organised by the Indian Navy. The star attraction was INS Vikrant, India's first indigenous aircraft carrier, which drew special international attention following its central role in Operation Sindoor. The event was historic as India hosted IFR, MILAN 2026, and the IONS Conclave of Chiefs simultaneously for the first time. President Murmu linked the event to India's MAHASAGAR framework and the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Why in News: Fleet Reviews and naval milestones are frequently asked in Defence-related GK questions. The theme, Presidential Yacht, ship count, star attraction, and concurrent events are all exam-worthy facts.
