QS World University Rankings 2027 Released - IIT Delhi Achieves Best Ever Indian Rank at 118 and India Secures 5th Position Globally with 52 Universities in the List

 

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi retained its position as India's highest-ranked university in the QS World University Rankings 2027, climbing to 118th globally and equalling the best-ever ranking achieved by an Indian institution in the prestigious global index. Among other Indian institutions, IIT Bombay ranked 134th globally, followed by IIT Madras at 170th, IIT Kharagpur at 205th and IIT Kanpur at 221st. The University of Delhi improved to 322nd rank, while Jamia Millia Islamia reached 686th position.

 

India has secured the fifth position worldwide in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and around 52 universities featured in the list, showcasing the country's growing academic influence and expanding research capabilities. A total of 26 Indian universities improved their positions, nine maintained their standing, and 15 witnessed a decline, while two institutions entered the rankings for the first time. A total of 18 Indian universities achieved their highest-ever ranking, including Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, BITS Pilani, VIT, Chandigarh University, and Shoolini University. 

 

Globally, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology retained the first position for the 15th consecutive year, followed by Stanford University, Imperial College London, the University of Oxford and Harvard University in the top five.
