India AI Impact Summit 2026 Concludes with New Delhi Declaration - 92 Nations Endorse; $200 Billion+ in AI Investment Commitments; Guinness Record for AI Pledges

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, held from February 16–21, 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, endorsed by 92 countries and international organisations. The Summit drew approximately 6 lakh in-person attendees and over 9 lakh cumulative virtual views, with delegations from more than 100 countries and 20 international organisations participating.

The Summit catalysed over USD 200 billion in AI-related investment commitments. Reliance Industries pledged USD 110 billion over seven years for AI infrastructure. Adani Enterprises announced a USD 100 billion investment plan by 2035. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, announced a USD 15 billion AI hub in Visakhapatnam, new India-US subsea cable routes, training for 20 million civil servants, and support for 11 million students. Venture capital firms General Catalyst and Lightspeed Venture Partners committed USD 5 billion and USD 10 billion respectively.

India achieved a Guinness World Record for the "Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours," with over 2.5 lakh validated pledges. India also announced expansion of its sovereign AI compute capacity — building on 38,000+ GPUs already provisioned under the IndiaAI Mission, an additional 20,000 GPUs will be added. The Declaration was guided by the principle of "Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya" and the three Sutras of the Summit: People, Planet, and Progress. Thirteen leading global and Indian frontier AI developers also announced the New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments.

Background: The India AI Impact Summit 2026 was the first-ever global AI summit hosted in the Global South, positioning India at the centre of responsible and inclusive AI governance. It built on earlier AI safety summits held in Bletchley Park, UK (2023) and Seoul, South Korea (2024). India's IndiaAI Mission, launched in 2024, is the national framework governing India's AI development and deployment. The summit was organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. It included High-level GPAI (Global Partnership on AI) Council meetings and featured seven thematic working groups whose recommendations were incorporated into the final Declaration.
