Union Cabinet Approves Ahmedabad-Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line Railway Project Worth Rs 20,667 Crore

India approved the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)-Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line project on 13 May 2026. The project is estimated at about Rs 20,667 crore and will add around 134 km of new railway line.

 

Background: Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) is one of India's most ambitious greenfield industrial cities being developed as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). Connectivity to Dholera from Ahmedabad is essential for making this industrial city fully operational. The new semi high-speed rail line will significantly reduce travel time and boost economic activity in the region.
