Gujarat Launches Industrial Policy 2026 with New Ultra Mega Category and 16 Thrust Sectors to Boost Investment and Employment

The Gujarat Government launched its Industrial Policy 2026 on June 15 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled the policy in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The policy aims to accelerate industrial growth, attract investment, promote innovation, and generate employment across the state.

The policy introduces a new Ultra Mega industrial unit category requiring a minimum investment of Rs 10,000 crore and at least 3,000 jobs in designated thrust sectors. Units in this category can receive incentives up to 40 per cent of capital investment through capital subsidies, interest subsidies, and power tariff support. The number of thrust sectors has been expanded from nine to 16.

New sectors added include semiconductor supply chains, nuclear power equipment, drone and robotics production, recycling industries, and heavy equipment manufacturing. The policy prioritises ease of doing business, advanced manufacturing, MSME growth, and technology adoption. GIFT City has been highlighted as a key investment zone under this framework.
